In August 2025, the RECETAS team in Cuenca took center stage at the World Nursing Congress 2025 (#WNC2025), an esteemed international forum bringing together leaders, innovators, and scholars from across the nursing profession. The Congress celebrates cutting-edge interventions, emerging trends, and pioneering research that shape the future of nursing and community health.
A standout moment was the presentation by Gabriela Elizabeth García Vélez of Universidad de Cuenca, entitled “Towards Nature-Based Social Prescription to Alleviate Loneliness.”. Through her talk, presented how nature, creativity, and community-driven approaches can transform experiences of loneliness, nurture social connection, and strengthen mental wellbeing. It was a vivid illustration of RECETAS’ mission: to blend evidence, imagination, and collaboration in building healthier, more connected communities for older adults.
This contribution reaffirms the transformative potential of combining science, art, and community engagement to address one of the most pressing challenges of our time: social isolation and its impact on wellbeing.
