From 20 to 26 October 2025, Healing Arts Barcelona brought together global leaders and practitioners in arts, health, and public policy for a series of events and activities.

Professor Laura Coll Planas, principal investigator of the RECETAS randomized trial in Barcelona, participated in this international initiative, which aims to highlight the transformative role of the arts in promoting wellbeing, fostering social connection, and inspiring creative approaches to public health.

The event was organized by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC), and the Jameel Arts & Health Lab, in collaboration with the Universitat de Vic – Universitat Central de Catalunya (UVic-UCC). UVic-UCC hosted a site-specific programme, Healing Arts Vic, led by Sergi Blancafort.

This international gathering showcased how arts-based practices can improve health outcomes, strengthen communities, and inspire innovative research across disciplines.

RECETAS Activities at Healing Arts Barcelona

23 October – Research Day

At the VHIR Research Institute of Vall d’Hebron, Laura Coll Planas participated in the session “Creative Pathways to Health: Research and Practice in Arts-Based Interventions.”
Her presentation, “Arts Enhancing Social and Nature Connection to Tackle Loneliness: Learnings from the European Projects Join4Joy and RECETAS,” explored how creative and nature-based interventions can foster connection and reduce loneliness in diverse communities.

25 October – Friends in Nature: Literary Tour in Vic

As part of the Healing Arts Vic programme, Aina Carbó will facilitate nature-based activities within the “Friends in Nature” initiative that are part of « Friends in Nature » in a literary tour guided by Càtedra Verdaguer where Verdaguer poems will be read in his home town next to the local river. Special thanks to Montse Masó for organizing this activity on behalf of RECETAS.

Through its participation in Healing Arts Barcelona, RECETAS continues to explore how arts and nature-based interventions can enhance wellbeing, foster inclusion, and combat loneliness — connecting people and communities across Europe through creativity, collaboration, and care.
