Tips for Nature-Based Activities in Finland
Tip #1: Natural Treasure Hunt
A forest, park, or courtyard can become a playground for exploration. As hidden treasures emerge after winter, groups can enjoy experiential walks searching for them. This activity works well with older adults in care homes as well as in intergenerational programmes, for example, when nursery children visit a care home.
Tip #2: Let Go and Let Nature Thrive
Creating wild spaces in gardens and courtyards helps prevent biodiversity loss and expands habitats for pollinators like butterflies and bumblebees. Allowing native meadow plants to flourish benefits both nature and the people enjoying it.
